What am i going to learn in this tutorial ?

In this tutorial i will try to show you a way you can deal with xml data in Macromedia Flash. We will setup a xml file with a bit of information on a few badguys, we will retrieve this information in Flash with Actionscript. If we receive it we will deal with it in such a way that really using the data is a breeze after the initial setup. Its so easy to use because we will take a lot of data but make specific data in this big pool of data easilly available by using objects and arrays.

Lets setup the XML part first

Open up your favorite text editor, anything besides word or notepad.
this is a very goodone i personally use very often
and input the code that is below, then save it as gameData.xml
First up is the xml 1.0 tag to let the browser know we are working with xml.

Here we create our main holder node called game. xml is a bit like a folder structure
on a hard drive. You have your root and then you can navigate deep into
your folder stucture. xml nodes are setup the same way.

     Here we create our badguys node. xml. In this node we will place
     all our badguy data we will use in Flash later in the tutorial

     <badguys>

         Here we setup the specifics for each badguy.
         We setup an id, a style, a x and y value and a status variable.
         These values will be made available on Flash.
         You can setup as many variables as you want to each badguy nodes
         In flash this data will be read out and you can do all the things you want with it.

         <badguy id="3" style="bad_guy_type_2" x="200" y="150" status="waiting" />
